Black Goji Berries are a rare, wild harvested berry originating from the Tibetan plateau in Western China. They also known as Black Wolfberries.
Apart from the health benefits of Black Goji Berries, the berries can be used to make a Blue Spirit which will turn pink when tonic is added. The berries can also be steeped to make a beautiful blue tea, which turns a purple/pink colour if a few drops of lemon are added.
Black Goji Berries have a tomato-like taste with a similar tartness noted in Cranberries. The exact taste will depend on which variant is used during distillation.
They are related to the more common Red Goji Berries but contains the highest concentration of OPC (oligomeric proanthocyanidins) of any fruit. OPC's are a group of powerful antioxidant compounds, mostly found in blueberries and grape seed.
