Hallertau Perle is a well-rounded German variety that has gained recognition since its release to the public in 1978. It offers good bittering properties (5 – 9% Alpha Acids) and has pleasant aromas of herbs and spices with elements of peppermint and pine.

Some European breweries have claimed that Perle is much like and a good substitute for Hallertau Mittelfrüher as they have similar oil profiles. Hallertau Perle's storage stability is well noted, which makes it sought after by professional Brewers.

The original Perle was created in Germany sometime during the 1960s or early-mid 1970s from Northern Brewer and a German male.
