JOHN DEER'S CREAM ALE KIT
Product Details
Weight: 6 kg

Quicker to ferment than a Lager yet sharing the same qualities, this John Deer's Cream Ale Beer is a crisp, light-bodied Pale Ale, using a warm fermentation and cold lagering and the use of maize to give it a lighter body and flavour.

Additional Information:

Cream Ale is, by definition, an Ale because it’s made with Ale Yeast, though some varieties may combine both Ale and Lager yeasts. However, its light, crisp character might remind you more of a Pale Lager than a Traditional Ale.

Pale, crisp, and best served cold, Cream Ale is a Beer that could easily be mistaken for a Lager. When Beer enthusiasts talk about a “Lawnmower Beer,” they’re referring to a brew perfect for cooling off after yard work on a hot day. Cream Ale is an excellent example, though it’s actually an Ale and not a Lager.

If you’re a fan of Pale Lagers, Cream Ales might just be your gateway to the Ale side of the Beer spectrum. Here’s why this smooth and crowd-pleasing style has long been a favorite, especially among Ontarians.

Taste:

Cream Ales are light-bodied and dry, often with subtle bready notes and hints of sweetness or fruitiness. Many use maize/corn in addition to barley malt, lending a slight corn aroma.

They’re lightly hopped, so while you won’t get an intense bitterness, there’s often a pleasant, grassy finish—perfect for a lawnmower Beer vibe.

Mouthfeel:

The name “cream” simply refers to the Beer’s smooth, soft mouthfeel.

Appearance:

Cream Ales are usually golden or straw-colored with a clear, lively carbonation—“quite bubbly” in Beer terms.

Origins/Similar Styles:

Cream Ales originated in the mid-19th century in the North-Eastern and Midwestern U.S., when Pale Lagers like Pilsners were becoming popular. Brewers without the equipment for cold-brewing developed Cream Ales as a tasty alternative.

Serving:

Serve Cream Ales cold, between 4°C and 7°C, just like Pale Lagers.

PLEASE NOTE:

All recipes are used at the Brewer's own risk

The Cream Ale Kit is not suitable for long-term storage and should be consumed within 2 to 3 weeks to enjoy the maximum flavour imparted by the hops.
